The library charges the following overdue fines for items that are not returned to the Circulation Desk by their due date and time:
When an item becomes overdue, the borrower will receive via campus email three weekly overdue notices for each overdue item. One week following the third overdue notice, the item is considered lost and the borrower will be charged with the replacement cost of the item plus a $25.00 processing fee. If an overdue item is returned after it is deemed lost, the borrower will be forgiven the replacement cost and processing fee for the item. Alternately, the borrower may replace an item deemed lost by providing the library with an identical copy of the lost item. However, in either case, the borrower remains responsible for all overdue fines.
If an item is lost or damaged, the borrower will be charged with the replacement cost of the item plus a $25.00 processing fee. The borrower may replace a lost or damaged item by providing the library with an identical copy of the lost item; however, the borrower remains responsible for all overdue fines.
Fines and fees for lost or damaged laptops are governed by additional conditions outlined in the library's Laptop Checkout Agreement.
No payments for library fines or fees are accepted at the library. All fines and fees must be paid at the Cashier's Office in Race Hall. Periodically, library fines and fees are forwarded to the Cashier's Office and cleared from the library's records. This means that borrowers may have different fines and fees on record in the Cashier's Office and in the library.
To ensure that you have paid all library fines and fees, please request a copy of fines and fees at the Circulation Desk prior to visiting the Cashier's Office. You will owe the sum of fines and fees on record in the Cashier's Office plus those on record in the library. If you pay any fines or fees on record in the library, be sure to bring your receipt to the Circulation Desk to have these charges cleared from the library's records (otherwise, these fines and fees will be sent to the Cashier's Office and you will be charged twice!).
All fines and fees forwarded to the Cashier's Office and cleared from the library's records are final unless associated items are returned or replaced.
